Meet Adriana Foxley

From the little girl who sat in Monet’s garden with a gift shop sketchbook, to the woman painting, felting, and sculpting today, Adriana has always wanted to be an artist. Building this Atelier has allowed Adriana to focus full time on exploring herself as an artist, as well as creating a community for youth to find their unique artistic voice, to work in an environment with a real fine artist, and be inspired by each other.

  • Adriana began her formal art training when she was 12 under Patricia MacMahon Rice, a Nationally acclaimed portrait artist local here in the Fauquier area.  Adriana Studied with her till she was 18.

Over the years she continued to hone her skills privately, finding her own artistic voice, and exploring a vaiety of mediums.

To this day I continue to meet with other artists, learn new skills, and get inspired.

Adriana has a BA in Graphic Design

  • Adriana spent the first decade of her life living overseas, her family moved to Beijing China when she was six weeks old, then Rabat Morocco at 3, and Paris France as 6, finally ending back in the USA in 2000.

Overseas she was exposed to a variety of cultures, religions, languages, art, architecture, patterns, foods, and crafts. She learned from a very young age that there are many ways to live, there is no right way to live, only a happy way, and for Adriana, this means pursuing her drive to create.

Adriana has two beautiful sons who she is raising to be wild and free. Having been homeschooled herself she also homeschools, continuing the pattern of life long learning and building an environment conducive to exploration, genuine curiosity, and disciplined study.

Adriana recently married her childhood sweetheart and their family is now expecting a baby girl! Adriana loves being outside, growing flowers in her garden that she can dye with, taking care of bees with her son, longborading, reading, cooking, and hot cups of earl grey with milk and rosebuds.

  • I believe that we should truly never underestimate a child’s sophistication. Children are capable, and yearning to practice real skills and to create real art. That is why here at Foxley Atelier I provide my young artists with real professional grade tools and materials, and expect a level of discipline to study and learning skills, I encourage curiosity, and making art meaningful to each individual. Each student moves at their own pace, creating something that is meaningful to them.

  • I began Foxley Atelier in 2020 as a single mom who escaping a marriage of domestic violence was trying to find a way independently provide for my children.

The support from the community has been overwhelming, within the first 2 years I have been able to provide for my family all the necessities of life, literally everything from food, rent, clothes, gas for my car, gifts at Christmas, …everything, then finally in 2024 I was even able to buy our first home, lovingly christened “the doll house” (due to its charming diminutive size).

For 5 years this Atelier has kept our family healthy and happy, when you join our creative community you aren’t only gaining excellent artistic training, you are becoming part of our story, you are supporting a family, you are putting food on our table, giving my kids music lessons, and soccer training, you’re giving us birthday celebrations and even an occasional family vacation! Your membership in our creative community is so much more than a simple exchange of services and funds, you are giving my family the gift of a contented and full life. For this I am eternally grateful.
